Cold-press brewing, brewing coffee using room temperature water over a long period of time, allows for flavors that might not be present in the hot brewed coffee to come through.
The result is a concentrated coffee that can be used to make delicious hot or cold coffee drinks (see below). While there are several different methods of cold press brewing, the method here, utilizing a French press, is among the easiest.
Check out the video and how to below.
1. Use coarsely ground freshly roasted coffee and room temperature water with a 1:2 coffee to water ratio.
(For example, 2 cups of ground coffee and 4 cups of room temperature water).
3. Add the water to the coffee grounds in a French press, gently stir the mixture and place the lid on the press, but do not push down the plunger. Let the coffee sit overnight (8-12 hours).
4. Push down the plunger and pour the coffee into a storage container and refrigerate.
5. Mix your concentrated coffee with water at a 1:4 coffee to water ratio for a delicious, energizing cold drink. Sweeten and add milk and flavors if desired, but if you ask me, it’s best served black over ice.
How many grams of coffee is that? I measure my beans before I grind and want to try your method.
