We have a new coffee from the great folks at Cafe Imports. We are really excited about this one. As many of you know, we are fans of Tanzania Peaberry coffees just because they are always delicious and sweet. This one, however, is unique in its flavor profile standing out from a lot of peaberry coffees and boasting some distinctly African characteristics. Here is a bit from Cafe Imports about this coffee:
“Peaberries are funny little coffee seeds. Most people have a strong opinion on the “Peaberry Theory”: getting extra love as the cherry’s only child, peaberries are rumored to be better than other grade sizes, which grow as twins in the cherry. Our perspective: If it tastes good, it tastes good. This peaberry tastes really good. In the cup this coffee is very reminiscent of a Kenyan coffee, yet more mellow and soft. The acidity is diverse and refined. Roasted at city+ we found it tasted like a grapefruit and sugar reduction, creamy and rich, distinct dark chocolate finish. Other more minor notes: tamarind, raisin, turbinado sugar, vanilla, lime.
Many Tanzanias bridge a flavor gap between the more distinct African coffees of Kenya and Ethiopia with the flavors we find in Indonesian coffees, such as cedar, and juniper. This coffee is not one of those bridge coffees…”
